WNET North Texas Chapter’s hybrid event last month was generously hosted by SignaPay at their headquarters in Irving, Texas. The
well-attended LinkUp featured a conversation about diversity with Talent Advisor, Coach and Author Elizabeth Lions, President, Lionsology.
Elizabeth never disappoints, and this talk was no different. She walked us through common diversity terms that made us all think more broadly. Attendees from a variety of payments organizations reflected on how each of us could make a difference as
individuals working at large companies and how to make the concept of diversity and inclusion a reality.
“Watching Elizabeth Lions speak about diversity and inclusion was truly inspiring,” said Kim Mejia, Product Management, NCR. “It’s hard to approach those uncomfortable conversations in the workplace, but having them broken down differently
was empowering. You could feel Elizabeth’s passion in the room for giving different perspectives and thought-provoking vantage points. What a powerful speech!”
What made this diversity session different was that it wasn't about just diversity. It was really a talk about unity and “finding the place where we are all the same.” I won't spoil the ending – in case Elizabeth presents this powerful session to
another WNET Chapter – but she revealed something about her own personal life that made us all see we are more the same than we are different.
Elizabeth gave us the space to explore diversity and inclusion by allowing us to understand the importance of it and how to have those difficult conversations in a positive space. I was truly inspired and driven by her words and knowledge.
