By Kim Mejia, Product Manager, Processor Tools, NCR As another school year starts, a 2nd Annual Backpack Drive wraps up. The PayTech Women (PTW) North Texas Chapter, the members of Women In NCR (WIN)Texas and the iNCRedible Employees from the Frisco, Addison, Plano and Trinity NCR offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area delivered 175 backpacks filled with supplies to students at Mill Street Elementary School, a Title1 School in Lewisville ISD, where more than 85% of the student body is financially disadvantaged. It was a special day at Mill Street, with lots of smiles and a few anxious faces as the students found friends missed all summer, hugged their favorite teacher's neck and met their teacher for the new school year. It wasn't only the students sharing their excitement and nervousness that comes with returning to school; the teachers, parents and volunteers felt the love, appreciation and kindness that filled the halls when you have a little help from others. I'm not sure who benefitted most from the 2nd Annual Backpack Drive because we all feel the joy and support knowing there is a community with caring people. PTW and NCR will forever bond with Mill Street Elementary and look forward to following the success of their students. Bilingual Dyslexia Interventionist Cynthia Varela said, “Thank you to the PayTech Women North Texas Chapter and NCR Organization. We were so grateful to be chosen for such a generous donation. Being able to provide 175 students with a backpack and supplies was such a huge help for our families. Mill Street Mustangs appreciate the generosity!” Thank you to all the volunteers who donated money, purchased supplies, stuffed backpacks, loaded, unloaded and delivered them to families during the Parent Orientation and Meet the Teacher night. Well wishes to the Mill Street Elementary school teachers, school administrators, PTA volunteers, the Community In Schools Counselor and more than 700 students – from PK to 5th grade – for a successful year filled with creative thinking and many lessons learned!
