This event promises to educate legal professionals and business leaders on the opportunities and risks associated with AI in the legal industry, all while increasing awareness of how AI tools and large language models (LLMs) are being used to improve efficiency, research, drafting and client service. Nicole Pirog has built a legal career centered on her passion for serving others. Mrs. Pirog graduated with highest honor from Purdue University with a B.A. in Law and Society and a minor in Forensic Science. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from SMU Dedman School of Law, where she was a member of the Science and Technology Law Review.

Following law school, Mrs. Pirog worked in both private practice and legal education. Now as a Managing Member of Reeve Basnett Pirog PLLC, she works closely with clients across the payments ecosystem, including merchants, ISOs, agents, payment facilitators, banks and fintech startups proving business-oriented legal guidance across a range of areas, including regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and contract negotiations

Nicole also brings experience in surcharging and discount program compliance, as well as trademark registration. Mrs. Pirog is a member of the Electronic Transactions Association and was a recipient of ETA’s 40 Under 40 award in 2025. She is also a member of PayTech Women’s North Texas and Houston Chapters.

Ashley Basnett is a well-rounded attorney with years of litigation, negotiation and contract formation experience. Mrs. Basnett graduated cum laude from Texas Tech University in 2007 with a BA in Sociology and a minor in English. Mrs. Basnett attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now known as Texas A&M University Law School) and received her Juris Doctorate in 2011.

Prior to joining Reeve Basnett PLLC, Mrs. Basnett worked as prosecutor and as a civil litigation attorney in a private firm. Mrs. Basnett counsels a wide range of companies in the payments and financial services industries, including merchants, software developers, payment processors, ISOs and acquiring banks. Mrs. Basnett also represents companies in the fast-growing solar industry.

Mrs. Basnett is experienced in crafting and negotiating referral agreements, partner agreements and purchase agreements. In addition, Mrs. Basnett is a skilled trial lawyer.
